Ivrea
I studied computer science at the ITIS C. Olivetti technical school in Ivrea, Adriano Olivetti's town: an idea of enterprise where technology, culture, design and community belong together. It is still a reference.
I have been programming since the Commodore 64. I write software, make everyday objects interactive and, now and then, make a SID chip sing.

With MindContact I design and build custom software, apps and interactive systems: from the analysis of the problem to the code, down to the electronics.
My speciality is physical interfaces. I take an ordinary object, such as a desk, a set of mechanisms or a board, and make it interactive. Sensors and electronics disappear inside the object, which stays as it was but now notices who is using it and responds. A screen is something you look at; an object is something you touch, open, move. Perception widens, instead of shrinking to a glowing rectangle.
I follow the whole technical chain: sensors, electronics, firmware and software. For the set-up I work with professionals in the field.

At the MultiDams in Turin I studied with Antonio Pizzo, Vincenzo Lombardo and Edoardo Fadini: interactive drama as a system of rules, multimedia theatre, video theatre, new theatre.
In 2008 and 2009 I took part in the Officine Sintetiche workshops and found interactive systems: the one thing that held all my passions together.
Myron Krueger, Brenda Laurel, Steve Mann and his “humanistic intelligence”, Studio Azzurro, Lev Manovich and “augmented space”.
As a kid I had an “electronics lab” where I ran experiments in my spare time: a maker before the word existed.
Commodore 64, then MS-DOS, Amiga 1200, Windows, and finally Linux and embedded systems. I never quite left the C64.
Music and theatre are the heart of my studies. Today the music comes out of an emulated SID chip, with hexline.
As teenagers, Demis and I had a group for inventing video games. Today I make platformers and chiptune tools that run in the browser, with an 8-bit soul, on mindcontact.io.
Friends and former classmates from the ITIS Olivetti, whom I work with today.
